Since inception, INSDAG is involved in various Committees of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under Civil Engineering, Metallurgy and Management Systems Divisions (CED 7, CED 38, CED 54, MTD 4, MSD 12) in order to update standards related to steel designs and usages in line with advancements in the country and abroad. INSDAG was directly involved in bringing out a few of the standards such as IS 800, IS 801, IS 11384 and ushered a paradigm shift in the way steel was used in the infrastructure. INSDAG has also been involved with Steel Bridges Committee of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) and has been the pivotal organization in the propagation of Steel and Steel-Concrete Composite Bridges in India. Involvement with BIS & IRC has remained one of the primary ethos of INSDAG towards promotion of steel in the country.
