Professor A. R. Santha Kumar obtained his
first degree in Civil Engineering from the College of Engineering,
Guindy in 1965 and subsequently obtained his MSc degree under the
Technical Teachers Training Programme. He obtained his PhD degree
as a Commonwealth Scholar from the University of Christchurch, NewZealand.
His honours include Nagadi Award (1994) from the Association of
Consulting Civil Engineers, a Visweswarayya Gold Medal (1993) for
the research work on Transmission Line Towers from the Institution
of Engineers (India), Nagpur Centre and the best paper award (1990)
for his contribution on Tower Foundations, from the Central Board
of Irrigation and Power, Government of India. McGraw Hill Singapore
has published his book on Transmission Line Towers in 1994.
In a lifetime of service to Anna University, he
has guided the research work of 17 PhD students and published several
papers. He is currently the Dean of Civil Engineering at Anna University,
Chennai.
